The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of our QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) management systems in the warehouse. This includes data analysis, documentation management, training coordination, and assisting in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the QHSE management system, including policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all QHSE-related activities, including inspections, audits, incident reports, and corrective action plans.
- Coordinate and conduct internal audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with QHSE standards.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to promote a culture of safety, health, and environmental awareness and responsibility.
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, assisting with root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in the development and delivery of QHSE training and awareness programs for warehouse employees.
- Keep up to date with changes in QHSE regulations and industry best practices, and inform management of relevant updates.
- Participate in QHSE meetings and provide regular reports on performance and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science) preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of QHSE management systems, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or other relevant certifications are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of safety regulations, laws and standards specific to the transportation and logistics industry
Experience working with safety management systems
Language skills
Fluency in English
Computer Literacy
Proficient in Microsoft Office
