Title: Diesel Mechanic 2

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly

Founded in 1999, DTG Recycle is the largest recycler of commercial, industrial, construction, and demolition materials in the Pacific Northwest.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain all equipment, commercial fleet operations, diesel engines, air brakes, and electronics.
  • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck/trailer and heavy equipment.
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Raise trucks, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  • Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engine, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Report root cause of damaged equipment.
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  • Adjust and replace brakes, wheel seals, and bearings, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Communicate with the Managers through verbal and written methods to assure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety.
  • Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Other job duties will be added as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge in heavy machinery.
  • Experience in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials - to include repairing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel systems components, etc.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to work occasional Saturdays.
