Description
We are looking for a vibrant multi-tasker to join our Corporate team with a focus in our payroll department. Duties include the following:
- Preparation and processing a portion of our bi-weekly payroll (SCA and Union employees) – outsourced to Paylocity.
- Updating payroll records for pay rates, employee status, insurance coverage and other related items.
- Collection and verify timekeeping information for employees and consulting appropriate individuals to resolve any irregularities.
- Monitor, investigate and correct errors or discrepancies.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees or appropriate other departments.
- Work with others and review reports for year-end reporting as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and contract regulations and guidelines. States extend beyond Virginia.
- Prepare employee invoices for benefit costs while employees on various types of leave without pay.
- Preparing customer invoices for some contracts.
- Contributes toward creating a positive and respectful workplace with professional competence, integrity and collaboration with all company, vendor and customer personnel.
- Assisting with mail, scanning, and filing as needed.
- Completing other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
- Associate degree in accounting or bookkeeping (relevant experience of 2 years may be substituted for degree).
- Strong computer skills including use of VPN/remote network access, Microsoft Office 365 suite (particularly Word and Excel).
- Must have reporting capabilities and spreadsheet knowledge.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail while balancing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of an effective team with a highly cooperative and collaborative work style.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively work with others at remote locations via phone/computer as necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
- Must be able to pass a background and credit check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Administrative office experience
- Experience with Paylocity, Time Clock Plus and/or Dynamics SL
- Experience with Service Contract Act and/or Union payroll
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Manual dexterity is required for standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, climbing, and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) on a daily basis.
- Work is in an office environment.
- While our schedule is flexible, we strive to maintain core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Position is expected to require 40 hours per week.
- While initially onsite, position may work into a Hybrid schedule later in time.
