About The Job

Dudek is currently seeking a Biologist I to join our biological resources team in Southern California. Project work will occur throughout Southern California, with periodic work in Northern California or other locations. Overnight and out of region travel may be necessary. In addition to in-field and project site work, this position will include a combination of virtual and in office obligations based out of our Santa Cruz/Oakland offices.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conducting a variety field surveys and assessments
  • Assisting with the preparation of biological reports and biological resource sections of environmental documents,
  • Assisting with resource agency permitting efforts.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or related natural resources field,
  • Experience with common and special-status species throughout California and the West Coast of the United States,
  • Must have a minimum of two years professional experience working in the environmental consulting, land use planning and/or resource/regulatory agency sector. Substantial academic research, or biology focused extra circular involvement maybe considered in lieu of two full years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the ecology in different regions of California,
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in challenging terrain and weather conditions,
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Project and task management skills: general logistics, budgeting, scheduling, team management, and client and stakeholder communication.
