JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Summary

Review title information, prepare division orders, and interpret legal instruments associated with land documents. Negotiate land contracts, supervise and oversee daily land operations. Coordinate land functions with drilling and operational schedules.

  • Work with land administration team in the preparation and submittal of Division Orders, Transfer Orders and Division of Interests.
  • Approve lease rentals, shut-in payments and re-new rights of way permits. 
  • Monitor lists of internal lease expiration dates.
  • Review, verify and execute Division Orders, Transfer Orders and Division of Interests from outside sources.
  • Review and prepare Federal Unit applications.
  • Negotiate, review, edit and write contracts, farm-out or farm-in proposals and lease agreements with other oil and gas companies or private interest owners.
  • Research land and mineral ownership and negotiate with the owners to purchase or lease the rights to drill, operate and construct pipelines and roads on lands of interest. 
  • Develop good working relationships and communication skills with surface regulatory agencies (Federal, State, Navajo, and Bureau of Indian Affairs) and private interests on both common and split estate lands.
  • Act as a liaison between surface owners (regulatory and private interests) and internal staff and contractors in dealing with permit stipulations, violations or complaints.
  • Construct land maps of project areas to assist in meetings and discussion, prospect generation, pipeline construction or regulatory applications.
  • Provide “expert land-man testimony” and materials needed for New Mexico State or City of Farmington regulatory hearings.
  • Work with geologists, engineers, land, surveyors, archaeologists and environmental coordinators to stake and permit new drill sites and rights-of-ways on or across Federal, State, Private and Navajo Allotted or Tribal Trust lands.
  • Monitor and evaluate past and future lease sales for possible interest and determine potential bid amounts.
  • Cure title should there be omissions or errors on a lease or title, in preparation for drilling or operations, ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Ensure deadlines are met for all in house processes (ie; AFE’s, timely return of DO’s, notification of regulatory hearings, etc)
  • Employee may also be asked by supervisor or other management to perform tasks that would be outside the parameters of duties or job functions, you will be expected to complete these job functions as well.
