As a survey technician, you will be responsible for the technical and administrative work of surveying, drafting, and engineering responsibilities needed by the engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs various types of surveys, including topography, vertical control, horizontal control, and stakeout.
- Drafts topography surveys or other projects as needed using CAD software.
- Sets up and maintains GPS rovers and machine control for field personnel.
- Assists in the bid process by determining earthwork and other quantities using computer programs and manual methods.
- Assists in Geographic Information Systems data collection/input and map preparation.
- Maintains survey equipment that is self-operated and that is operated by other field personnel.
- Supports the company's environmental compliance efforts as needed.
- Performs any other engineering, estimating, or surveying support as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply current engineering and surveying standards/practices/techniques
- Knowledge of and ability to understand engineering manuals and applicable state and federal regulations, including MPCA NPDES permit, DOT manuals, etc.
- Knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
- Skill in using all applicable survey equipment precisely, efficiently, and productively.
- Experience operating various computer equipment and software, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Ability to obtain/maintain MN DOT CST – 3 certifications for work on State Aid projects.
- Ability to prioritize and carry out work assignments, individually and as a team.
- Ability to use and operate a motor vehicle to access projects and transport equipment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, and move about work sites
- Regularly required to drive to various job sites, including climbing on/off equipment, ladders, etc.
- Ability to work with computer equipment and office equipment
- Ability to lift objects to 50 lbs
- Travel as required
