A cook's job description includes a variety of tasks and responsibilities, such as
- Food preparation : Selecting and following recipes, measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients, chopping, slicing, and seasoning food
- Cooking : frying, grilling, and boiling food
- Kitchen maintenance : Cleaning workspaces, utensils, and dishes, maintaining a sanitary and safe work environment, managing food storage and stock levels
- Health and safety : Meeting food safety and sanitation regulations, adhering to hygiene and safety standards
- Communication : Liaising with wait staff and management
Cocks should also be able to perform under pressure, as restaurant kitchens are fast-paced and frenzied
