This position is housed within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Work Performed

Manage and supervise the Environmental Engineering Teaching Laboratory, including equipment within this facility 60%

Provide support for TAs who support environmental lab classes, including hands-on training with best practices on laboratory safety and equipment operations. Courses include but are not limited to CEE 461L/561L, CEE 566, CEE462L/562L, CEE661, CEE666, and CEE565.

Provide in-lab oversight, leadership, and consultation services in best practices for safety and operating protocols uniformly across all Environmental Engineering labs

Schedule or provide routine maintenance and training on departmental equipment across all the environmental engineering laboratories 10%

Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of major research equipment in faculty research spaces

Perform routine spot checks for safety of laboratory facilities (e.g., general lab practices of chemical handling, eye wash stations, safety showers, chemical and bio safety hoods)

Assist as a liaison between other CEE Research & Development Engineers and lab personnel with annual safety inspections for the Environmental Engineering teaching and research laboratories

Manage the Trace Element Analysis Resource user facility, to include the maintenance and operations of key instrumentation for the resource, consultation with and training of users, development of new methods and protocols, and administrative tasks (e.g., invoicing, recordkeeping). 25%

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires a thorough knowledge of the principles of engineering and related natural sciences acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program in an Engineering science or a related natural science such as Physics or Chemistry. Due to professional exemption, equivalent experience cannot be substituted for bachelor's degree.
Experience
Work requires two years of related experience sufficient to acquire competency in the application of knowledge in the related Engineering field. A master's degree in an Engineering science or a related natural science may offset the required experience.
