Summary

Entry level position responsible for supporting all aspects of an enterprise computing and voice/data networking environments. Includes, but is not limited to: Micro-computer installation and maintenance, helpdesk support, wide and local network management, system, and network security.

 

Essential Functions

  • Installs, administers, tunes, and maintains virtual and physical servers as well as storage systems. Includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Windows server and workstation operating systems, Linux operating systems, and various Microsoft software suites
  • Monitors the ticketing queue and provides exceptional customer service when servicing a request
  • Assists in applying security policies to infrastructure while learning the application of common security tools such as patch management, group policies, and vulnerability scanning
  • Performs backup and recovery testing for infrastructure
  • Ensures the availability, integrity, and reliability of all systems, which may involve after-hours implementation and problem resolution response
  • Utilizes troubleshooting skills for resolving all assigned helpdesk requests in a timely fashion
  • Follows through on tracking of helpdesk requests and provides support and incident resolution a timely fashion as determined by company SLA’s
  • Schedules and tracks business partner resolution for any incidents that need to go outside the company for resolution
  • Documents all relevant information regarding policies, procedures, and information
  • Follows all change management processes and procedures as required
  • Ensures department success by managing expectations, controlling perceptions, and communicating accurately
  • Provides on-call support as needed

  • Ability to effectively multitask between operational support and projects with direct supervision
  • Possess the accountability and personal responsibility to own and drive results
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team environment

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or Business or equivalent experience
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft desktop and server operating systems
  • Basic understanding of network protocols and operations
  • Knowledge of virtual server environments
  • Knowledge of project management skills
  • Good written and oral communications skills

Travel and Availability to Work

  • As needed, up to 10%

 

Work Environment

Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, Microsoft Office applications, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
