The Quality Technician will perform chemical analysis using various instruments and lab ware on different types of samples such as polymers, solutions, and mixtures for monitoring the manufacturing and developmental processes. The technician will be a member of a self-managing team that manages the routine ongoing day to day functions often without direct supervision.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Observe all Area and Plant security regulations, procedures, and practices for safeguarding DuPont Company information.
- Perform routine maintenance functions such as component replacement, minor repair and equipment or process adjustments.
- Maintain close contact with upstream and downstream operations on items affecting product or process quality.
- Recognize when conditions require notification of other personnel and make the contact.
- Prepare records and reports which communicate required information.
- Operate equipment and instruments such as spectrophotometers, viscometers, gas chromatographs, titrators, pH meters, balances, ovens, and x-ray using standard practices.
- Calibrate instruments such as viscosity, x-ray, titrators, gas chromatographs and pH meters per standard practice and vendor specifications.
- Perform analysis such as refluxing, titrating, dissolution, reactivity, pH, COOH, mole ratio, % moisture, and gas chromatography.
- Calculate results and obtain measurements such as weights, volumes, temperatures, times, wave lengths and optical densities.
- Prepare samples and equipment for test setups and run test analysis per test instructions.

Qualifications:
The following are required:
- High School Diploma/GED
- A valid driver’s license
- Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, including required overtime
- Ability to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., move drums weighing up to 700 pounds with Stevedore truck and exert up to 75 pounds pull, (with or without accommodation)
- Ability to wear protective equipment for extended periods such as hard hats, goggles, gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Ability to work with hazardous materials
- Ability to work alone and in isolated areas
- Ability to work in a factory setting
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic, multi -cultural setting
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency on a computer, i.e. Word & Excel
- Strong communication skills

The following are preferred:
- An Associate Degree or higher
- 3 to 5 years laboratory experience
- The ability to transcribe and communicate information (ideas, facts, etc.) intelligibly both verbally and in legible writing
- Previous experience in training or leading groups and/or individuals
- Work with minimum supervisory direction
- Analyze problems and situations to make logical decisions
- The ability to read graphs and charts
- Have a working knowledge of weights and measures and elementary chemistry
