The DuPont Water & Protection is recruiting for a Technical Advisor to join our dedicated team located at our manufacturing site in Midland, MI. As a Technical Advisor you will provide leadership, operational expertise, technical, mechanical, and hands-on assistance for the safe operation and maintaining of reliable service for all processes and assets aligned to Midland Ion Exchange Anion and Special Resins facility.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Primary focal point for permitting and special projects
The Technical Advisor must also be able to fill the role of the Operations Specialist and as needed, will be responsible and accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the Anion/Special Resins plant and associated equipment and all support equipment required to operate and maintain the complex as well as fill the role of Shift Activity Coordinator and/or Immediate Response Leader. The operator will also be expected to run routine analysis as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 5 years of previous operating experience in a chemical process and/or advanced technical training in the area of chemical processing
Physical requirements of the job: This job requires moderate physical capabilities. Typical work includes:
- Climb stairs an average of 32 industrial flights over an 8-hour shift
- Climb an 8-foot ladder or a fixed rung ladder >25 foot height to gain access to valves, tanks, vessels, etc. up to 50% of shift.
- Work with arms below, at and above shoulder level is done on an intermittent basis
- Perform the job with a typical lift height of 48” <2 hours per day and frequently up to 60”-75”
- Push up/Pull up to 70 lbs. of force with arms from <1/3 to >2/3 of a shift
- Carry weights of 16 lbs. to 50 lbs. 10 feet or >10 feet can be performed from <1/3 to >2/3 of a shift
- Kneel to ensure proper body mechanics for lifting from floor to waist
- Bend, squat and work in various body positions safely and effectively
- Use a twisting motion of the head, neck and waist required for fork truck driving
- Wear chemical protective covering (for extended periods) during plant activities which require PPE
- Drive a fork truck, operator a condor/scissor lift, and operate a motor vehicle
- Properly use basic hand tools (pliers, wrenches, hand cart, etc.)
- Work a reasonable amount of overtime (10%-20%)
- Work outside in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
- Use of all plant required PPE, including SCBA.
- This job requires occasional use of SCBA and respirators. The individual must be medically approved for respirator use and fit tested, in addition to maintaining a clean-shaven face to ensure proper sealing surface of respirator.
- Must be medically approved to operate fork trucks and elevated work platforms.
