Dura-Bond Pipe is a manufacturer of high strength, carbon steel API 5L pipe for the gas and oil industries. Dura-Bond’s pipe manufacturing facilities located in McKeesport; Pennsylvania has openings for Quality Managers. The Quality Managers main duties will include developing and implementing quality control tests, inspecting Pipe at various stages of production, and writing reports documenting any production issues.
Principle Duties:
- Must have a metallurgical Degree.
- Must have 5 years’ experience in Steel facility.
- Must be able to determine the metallurgical specifications to order Skelp.
Responsibilities:
- Calculate the tonnage of coils that will be needed to complete an order. This is figured by using the average tonnage per coil, coil length, pipe lengths, and historic yield ratio for product of the same wall size, grade and yield strength and the amount of footage of product needed to complete the order. This will be done in conjunction with the Production Planner.
- Must be able to calculate the footage per coil to maximize the coil per cutout of pipe per pipe order length requirements.
- Must be able to determine the metallurgical composition need to meet customer specs.
- Create lab test specification requirements that are needed to meet Customer and API requirements.
- Oversee production quality to ensure quality product is being produced and that all quality personnel are performing their job.
- Oversee the lab to make sure all test are being completed in a timely manner.
- Review lab results to ensure that all customer and API specs are meet.
- Work with Production Planner to order the raw material for the orders that will be run on the mill.
- Work with Production Planner and supplier in assure a timely arrival of the raw product.
- Work in conjunction with Production Planner, Vice President, and Plant Manager so that all items are addressed to assure production run functions without any issues.
- Review order requirements with personnel.
- Review Quality Manual, Production Procedures.
- Maintain and Update Quality Manual as needed.
- Review and interpret API specifications
- Must participate in customer preproduction meeting
- Must be able to articulate process of mill operation and quality process.
- Must be able to how articulate how the skelp order and testing and inspection will meet the customer and API specifications
Must be extremely proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to lift 75 lbs., twist and turn, kneel, and stand for long periods of time, climb a ladder, and work overhead as required.
This is permanent direct hire position; all applicants must pass background and substance screening.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,800.00 per year
