Part Time Criminal Defense Legal Assistant
A well established Criminal Defense and Personal Injury firm in Tacoma is looking for a part time criminal defense legal assistant to join their rapidly expanding practice! If you have a strong desire to learn and a positive, solution oriented mindset this could be an excellent fit for you. Responsibilities for Legal Assistant
- Collect, and organize discovery, and other legal documents for attorney review and filing
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents
- Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, motions and trial briefs
- Assist with client billing by receiving and recording client payments , as well as resolving billing issues in cooperation with the office manager
- Communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions
- Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems
- Open, organize and maintain case files in both paper and electronic systems
- Provide general administrative assistance, such as answering phones, scheduling meetings for our attorneys, and maintaining the attorney calendars utilizing online information systems.
Qualifications for Legal Assistant
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree is preferred
- 1-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal preferred
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
