Position Summary
Assist the Meat Manager in directing and managing all functions and activities of the Meat Department to achieve sales and profit goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide exceptional service, courtesy, and friendliness to all customers.
2. Achieve necessary sales and profit goals consistent with the store’s budget and profit plan.
3. Along with the Meat Manager, work out localized merchandising plans for the department.
4. Develop Meat Department plans for effective space management based on movement, consumer demand, and profitability.
5. Order, merchandise, rotate, and control inventory to minimize out-of-stocks and overstocks, and to maximize sales.
6. Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking, and restocking cases to insure quality protection, accuracy, and product rotations.
7. Control department expenses.
8. Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.
9. Effectively train and supervise other Meat Department personnel.
10. Ensure all policies and procedures relevant to scanning are being adhered to.
11. Follow sanitation program for maintenance of cases, back room coolers, prep areas, and refrigeration equipment.
12. Ensure favorable department image with customers through a clean, attractive, and friendly department.
13. Follow all company policies and procedures.
14. Maintain and submit required records and reports.
15. Observe local conditions and competitive activity relating to the Meat Department and keep others informed. Perform weekly, competitive price checks.
16. Maintain good communications in store and throughout the organization.
17. Have a self-development program.
18. Ensure compliance to store Sanitation, Safety, and Security Programs.
19. Ensure compliance to Local, State, and Government Sanitation Regulations, Weights and Measure Laws, etc.
20. Take regularly scheduled inventories.
