Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide exceptional service, courtesy, and friendliness to all customers.
2. Bag customer’s purchases.
3. Assist in price checks
4. Keep Check Out area clear and in good order, fill supplies as needed.
5. Load purchases into customer’s automobile, when requested to do so.
6. Promote Dutch-Way’s reputation for friendly and efficient service by providing high standards of customer service at all times.
7. Provide highest standards of professional appearance and conduct at all times. This includes proper dress (wearing name badge), and obeying all Dutch-Way policies related to personal appearance, personal hygiene, and dress/jewelry codes), and consistent good conduct towards and in front of all customers.
8. Pay strict attention to each customer. Do not talk to other store employees while you are processing the customer. All of your attention must be given to your customer. Each customer must be greeted with courtesy prior to starting the order. During the transaction each customer must be asked “Did you find every item you were looking for today?”. If not, obtain the assistance of an available store employee to assist the customer.
9. Accurately and efficiently ring up each order. Ring all items into the proper department. Properly identify and price all produce items. Properly process all types of payments (cash, check, debit card, credit card, EFT, WIC, store charges, and Gift Certificates).
10. Count the change back to every customer at the conclusion of their transaction and thank them for choosing Dutch-Way.
11. Demonstrate ability to obey all government and Dutch-Way rules and regulations pertaining to the Food Stamp and W.I.C. programs. Properly process these types of transactions when required. Maintain an up to date knowledge of the programs by rereading cashier training materials on a regular interval, and reading any program update notices.
12. Follow cash handling procedures for sales and cash accountability. (See Cash Handling-Over/Short policy)
13. Properly apply store policy when handling checks. (See Check Cashing Procedures policy)
14. Perform various assignments given to you by managers or listed on the written front end/cashier checklist.
15. Work your shift as scheduled by the Front End Manager. Follow store policy when requesting time off or schedule revisions.
16. Obey all store policies. (See Dutch-Way Employee handbook)
