CNC Intermediate Program / Set-Up / Lead / Operate / NS
Grade Level: 8A
Summary:
The CNC Intermediate Program/Set-Up/Lead/Operate/Help With new machining Ideas located in Grandview, MO reports to our CNC Supervisor and is responsible for programming, setting up and operating CNC machine tools to support production demand. Develop and enhance CNC machining processes to ensure the efficient utilization of the CNC machine tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate machine tools to efficiently produce parts as required to satisfy production demand. Identify and install required tooling. Write or edit CNC programs to produce parts within stated manufacturing tolerances. Operate the machine to utilize available capacity.
- Continually review and enhance existing processes to improve efficiency. Edit programs and revise fixtures where possible to reduce cost.
- Check part conformance with engineering blueprints and quality standards upon initial setup and as necessary throughout the production run. Use a variety of measuring instruments, i.e. micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, plug and ring gages, etc.
- Instruct others in proper operation of and safety procedures for machines. Assist others with setup operations. Operate machines as required. Serve as back-up group leader.
- While this position is directed towards the CNC machine tools, it will be expected to support the entire machining operation.
- Write Routing Change Requests to properly document process changes.
- Perform daily maintenance and general housekeeping to ensure that the equipment is properly cared for Ensure that the CNC machine manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule is adhered to. Will perform the routine duties associated with lubrication, coolant, air supply and housekeeping.Communicate with the supervisor when significant maintenance issues are identified/required.

Requirements
Required Skills / Experience / Equipment Operation:
- Must have sufficient experience and/or training in machine shop practices to program, setup, operate and maintain CNC equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and tooling instructions.
- Must already possess ALL CNC Standard Program / Set-Up / Operate VII Skills, Experience and Requirements.
- Must possess the ability to properly instruct others on process specification / procedures.
- Must display and maintain a positive attitude.
- Must be able to generate process data, tool lists, set-up sheets, and machine programs with minimal assistance.
Physical/Mental Essential Functions:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to reach above shoulders
- Ability to walk back and forth through-out facility
- Ability to control operation with hand or foot
- Ability to lift / carry up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to turn wrist frequently in repetitive motion
Working Conditions:
- Work environment is very fast paced. Work is primarily conducted on the shop floor.
