In a manufacturing company, one of the most important jobs is inventory and warehouse control. If we don't know what we have in stock, how can we know whether we can build it or not? If the inventory counts aren't right, we risk getting all the way to the finish line and then can't cross it and ship the goods.
This job is a key member of the Production Planning Team, joining the Master Scheduler, the Bill of Material Specialist, the Production Routing Specialist and the Head Buyer/Planner. Together they are like the air traffic controllers of Dymax manufacturing. If they aren't on their game, our Dymax "airplane" doesn't land!
What are the routine elements of this job?
- Overseeing cycle counters, material handlers and stock clerks
- Participation on the Production Planning team
- Devising the best layout of warehouse spaces
- Being accountable for receiving of all incoming components
- Maintaining inventory accuracy through physical inventory and periodic cycle counts
- Picking, packing, and auditing parts orders for shipment
