What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Dynamic Foods?
Responsible for purchasing of foods and non-foods for the company. This includes Price negotiations, bids, watching markets, buy-in’s, vendor evaluations and efficiencies. Closely monitors inventory levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for efficient purchasing of inventory, supplies and small equipment for the company
- Receives purchase requisitions and verifies for accuracy and authorization(s).
- Sources new vendors when necessary.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders
- Determines and negotiates prices, delivery and credit terms
- Buys according to established company policies and procedures
- Maintains accurate purchasing records.
- Responsible for evaluating, assessing and selecting vendors based on capabilities, performance and consistent quality assurance.
- Maintains rapport and good working relationships with vendors; keeps accurate vendor records.
- Evaluates inventory reorder levels and quantity price breaks to determine most economical purchasing of inventory and supplies in relationship to company’s cost of capital.
- Reviews purchasing commitments with President of Purchasing.
- Expedites purchase orders as necessary and ensures delivery of purchased items for uninterrupted manufacturing flow.
- Performs other purchasing or inventory control duties as necessary or as requested.
- Works closely with Product Development in accessing new products or upgrading/improving existing products.
- Updates Buying Books with Contracts, Price Lists Specifications, Indemnity Agreements, Current Market Conditions, Usage, Etc.
- Direct Ship Orders for non-stock items and remodel stores needing specific items to Administrative Duties include but not limited to approving invoices, working on problem invoices and researching problem accounts.
- Support operations with any program/project.
- Support information technology as needed with program updates or changes and testing.
Education and/or Experience
Associate Business Degree, with minimum of 3 years purchasing experience. Relative experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for degree. Must be knowledgeable in Lotus 123, Word Perfect, Excel and JD Edwards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The position requires independent work with limited supervision, but coming in contact with numerous individuals on a regular basis. It also requires frequent contact with employees, management and Vendors. The ability to plan work and meet deadlines is essential.
