What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will be the expert in planning, leading, and controlling all site operations as established in procedures and guidelines set by the Company in the areas of people, equipment, material, and environmental safety, cost performance, asset utilization, customer product, and service delivery. Other duties will include:
- Responsive in the event of a safety-related incident, and/or investigation, and implements corrective action with urgency
- Responsible to respect the rights of others and to help create discrimination and harassment-free workplace
- Report on area performance and metrics regularly. Direct and coordinate site operational resources to ensure customer demands are met.
- Control the site expenditure and assets to achieve financial targets.
- Maintain the highest standards of presentation and professionalism.
- Manages individual performances through positive reinforcement and taking appropriate corrective action and can have the “difficult” conversations
- Ensure the delivery of products and services.
- Communicate all information that may have an impact on Dyno Nobel, its business (current or future), its operations, and any competitor activity.
- Management of site operating expenditure to meet the current year's budget
- Contribute to achieving budgeted customer profitability as measured by EBIT, EBITA, and EBITDA.
- Manage maintenance systems for all company assets to minimum company standards.
- Identify, recommend, and implement initiatives to reduce the overall cost of doing business.
- Eliminate all forms of waste from site operations.
- Identify and recommend Continuous Improvement projects that have financial benefits for both Dyno Nobel and our Customer.
- Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability
- Ensure field trial of new products and services where required and have properly trained operators and fit for purpose equipment and products.
- Work closely with engineering to coordinate design, construction, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Ensure all operational personnel are 100% trained in the Operator Training System (OTS) and skilled to perform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure that all changes (including people and engineering-related changes) are managed according to identified Company processes and policies.
- Encourage subordinates to develop ideas for improvements in operating and equipment that may contribute to improved efficiency and safety. Participate in testing and review of new ideas.
- Monitor and manage industrial relations matters to ensure a cooperative and productive workforce.
- Effective use of the ATLAS process, using SMART goals, to extract employee and operational potential.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Additional directly related work experience may be substituted for some of the educational requirements
- Minimum 5 years of management experience.
- Advanced people management skills including leadership, performance management, and coaching
- Ability to develop site operating plans and effectively execute them.
- Experience with heavy equipment/bulk truck delivery and on-bench blasting operations.
- Experience with safety, environment, quality, maintenance, and training systems.
- Sound computer literacy
- Strong understanding and acceptance of responsibility for compliance to relevant OSHA, ATF, DOT and EPA and local regulations
- Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
