What You’ll Do
As the Press Brake Operator, you will be working in the fabrication layout area operating various pieces of equipment for forming metal; namely hydraulic press brake, metal shear machine, metal rolling machine, saw, drill press, etc. You will o perate metal forming equipment to produce layout pieces for fabrication (i.e., plasma table, shear, press brake, roll bender, band saw, drill press, stationary grinder, hand grinder/buffer, etc.) Other duties will include:
- Learn and adhere to applicable safety practices, rules, regulations, etc.
- Balance work pace, quality, and efficiency
- Work in teams and accomplish goals together
- Use workplace efficiency concepts (i.e., visual management, 5S, standard work, etc)
- Monitor daily/weekly/monthly work performance through Key Process Indicator graphs
- Read and understand drawings, schematics, designs, and blueprints of tanks and other steel assemblies for truck bodies and process plant equipment.
- Willingness to cross train into non-layout areas as the needs arise (i.e., welding, assembly, paint prep, etc.)
- Operate various shop equipment including forklift, overhead crane, jib crane, grinder, sander, drill, and other related fabrication equipment.
- Accurately account for components used for specific jobs/work orders
- Search for, identify, and implement improvement ideas continually
- Shift to non-core jobs if required by supervisor
What We’re Looking For
- High School Diploma preferred; Trade and/or Technical School Training preferred
- Some High School or Technical School experience in metal forming and/or welding preferred.
- Good communication skills (written, conversation, face to face, email, text, etc.)
- Reading and writing proficiency required
- Experience operating metal forming equipment
- Requires intermediate computer navigation (file sharing, uploading/downloading files, computer interface experience)
- Requires intermediate math skills (proficient in fractions, decimals, conversions, and basic geometry)
- Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
