Shift: Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM (times subject to change)
Salary: $25/hr - $30/hr depending on experience
Status: W2 with benefits - Full-Time

Essential Duties:
- Create, manage GIS datasets for the City of Rockford utilizing ArcGIS 10.3
- Provide enterprise wide leadership and coordination of the City’s GIS datasets, infrastructure, methods, and standards
- Provide technical training and support of City staff
- Provide GIS data mapping, cartography, and analysis services for other City departments
- Provide support data analysts at police and fire departments
- Provide support to other IT staff related to data aggregation and analytics
•Maintenance, administration, and enhancement of AIMS(Address and Intersection •Management System)
- Maintenance and administration of Hansen Geo-Administrator toolset and Infor GIS
- Develop training materials and documentation
- Code data maintenance automation scripts using Python and ArcPy module
- Design and develop GIS applications
- Provide geolocation services for all city departments
- Data and layer development, maintenance, and map/report production
- Represent the City and coordinate efforts with county-wide GIS organization.
Qualifications :
The GIS Coordinator must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in geography, computer science, planning, engineering, or related fields, and thorough experience with geographic information system design, implementation, and management. In addition, applicants must have excellent communication skills and the ability and interest to work directly with individuals and groups, and find innovative and efficient solutions to administrative and technical problems. Work experience in local government and familiarity with mapping and geo-processing operations of local governments are desired.
More specifically, the GIS Coordinator must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of automated mapping and spatial information processing methods and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of the capabilities of automated mapping and geographic information processing systems.
- Knowledge of program budgeting and contract management.
- Ability to translate technical concepts and terminology in terms understandable to elected officials and other department heads.
- Ability to make decisions based on factual data, and to evaluate progress or success of computerized projects and systems.
