The Senior Director of Finance will serve a key member of the financial leadership team, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to ensure the financial

health and sustainability.

This role is responsible for:

· Overseeing the finance department’s day-to day functions.

· Assisting the CFO in overseeing all financial operations, driving financial strategy, and providing financial leadership across the organization.

Financial Leadership and Management

· Assist the CFO in providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring the organizations’ financial stability and long-term growth.

· Contribute to the development and execution of a clear financial strategy that aligns with mission and goals.

· Provide day-to-day leadership to the Finance Department, ensuring the team’s alignment with organizational objectives.

· Develops and manages accounting staff to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.

· Identifies areas for improvement on financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.

· Reviews all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, revenue and expense analysis, and Agency’s/overhead cost allocation.

· Prepare and provide accurate monthly financial reports, statements, and analysis to the CFO to facilitate informed decision-making.

· Ensure that grant expenditures and revenue recognition follow grant agreements and regulatory requirements.

· Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets.

· Provide regular financial reports (i.e. profit and loss statements, grant budget vs.

· actual, etc.), and other requested financial analyses to program managers and/or clinic directors.

· Assist in the financial aspects of grant proposal development, including budget creation and financial narratives.

· Prepare the annual Consolidated Budget Report (“CBR”), Consolidated Fiscal Report (“CFR”) and other related cost reports in coordination with the CFO.

· Collaborate with external auditors by providing the required audit schedules and other relevant documents to facilitate the annual external audit, and/or program specific audits.

Budgeting and Forecasting

· Assist CFO in developing and implementing budgeting processes that involve all stakeholders, ensuring that budgets align to strategic objectives.

· Assist in leading the annual budgeting process, working with senior management and program leadership to set realistic financial targets, and manage the budget.

· Continuously assess financial performance, monitor variances, and provide timely, data-driven insights for decision making.

· Assist in generating financial forecasts to project the organization’s future financial performance.

· Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to control costs and improve profitability.

· Maintain robust internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.

Risk Management and Compliance

· Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements, regulatory standards, tax reporting, grant requirements, and accounting standards.

· Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or the relevant accounting standards applicable to nonprofits, regulatory standards, tax reporting, and grant agreements.

· Collaborate with the CFO in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, such as investments risks, funding uncertainties, and economic challenges, to safeguard the organization’s assets and reputation.

· Ensure internal control procedures are effective and efficient in detecting and preventing fraud, errors, and noncompliance with laws and regulations.

· Assist in developing risk management policies and strategies that protect the organization’s financial well-being.

Direct supervision for the Controller

· Controller is responsible for managing the Accounting Department, providing information about all of financial activities that will assist management

· and other relevant stakeholders in making educated economic decisions about the Agency's future. The function includes…

· Having functional responsibility over accounting, grants administration, and works closely with payroll and purchasing.

· Ensuring that the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and audits.

· Working closely with the program directors and their staff to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures, managing budgets, as well as exploring how the finance function can support program operations.

Qualifications

· Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Master’s or CPA preferred)

· A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience in a nonprofit organization, preferably in nonprofit healthcare organizations (preferably those regulated under the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports, NYS Office of Mental Health, Art 28 clinics).

· Strong knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management, budget preparation and management, grants accounting, cost report preparations (CBR, CFR, etc.), and compliance regulations.

· Exceptional strategic/critical thinking, financial analysis skills and attention to details

· Excellent interpersonal, communication (written, verbal and presentation), and leadership abilities.

· Strong sense of ownership of departmental functions, hand-on manager, strong work ethics and demonstrates collaborative and flexible working style.

· Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Intacct, Excel)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
