Executes, upholds, examines and maintains electrical/electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic components and systems. Applies knowledge of mechanical and electrical/electronic principles to pinpoint equipment malfunctions and utilize abilities to revive equipment back to working order. Offers proficient mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all Manufacturing areas.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examines and repairs hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to power supplies, numeral controls, programmable controls, gages, and test equipment
  • Develops and executes work requiring extensive know-how of mechanical and electrical/electronic theories and principles, writing specifications, national and local electrical codes, principles of operation and application of electronic equipment, and properties of different materials
  • Starts up, stops, and installs equipment in adherence with company safety procedures for machine shutdown and activation and aligned with MIOSHA mandates
  • Advises line mechanics and operators of operational procedures and requirements for working safely with mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment and components
  • Warns suitable management and line mechanics of potential mechanical/electrical issues and inherent hazards involved
  • Maintains the performance and maintenance records required by the company for identified equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance duties as directed
  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting
  • Assists and trains other maintenance and/or technical level workers
  • Ability to comprehend electrical diagrams and understand Ladder Logic diagram for troubleshooting purposes
  • Positive working attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizes workspace and inventory in a systematic and neat fashion

Work Environment

The working environment will have heavy noise and high traffic. Ear protection is required.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively perform duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:

**Education:

**

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Journeyman status through an accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is required

**Experience:

**

  • 5-10 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes

**Certifications:

**

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician

Additional Skills Required:

  • Computer experience/operation and PLC programming helpful

**Communication skills:

**

  • Speak effectively with fellow employees
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

**Mathematical skills:

**

  • Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra

**Other Skills:

**

  • Detail oriented
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and ladder logic prints. Make changes to prints if changes are made
