What You'll Do:

Job Overview-

• Shift: 8am-5pm
• As a microbiology lab assistant at E. & J. Gallo Winery you will play a pivotal support role to ensure the microbial stability of a diverse product portfolio. You will use classical microbiology techniques to collect and analyze samples and prepare media for the extended Gallo lab network to drive consistent results.

Job Responsibilities-

• Aseptically collects product samples from the cellar and bottling room and initiates microbial analysis
• Supports sanitation validation and monitoring analyses, including validation sample preparation, sampling, plating, microbiological plate reading and recording of the results
• Prepares microbiological media and solutions and distributes to network labs
• Supports QC control media and sample preparation
• Records sample information and results in LIMS

What You Will Need:

• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate
• Associate’s degree to include 1 year of college level biology (with lab courses); OR Associates degree plus 1 year of laboratory support experience (in lieu of 1 year of college level biology); OR 2 years of laboratory support, manufacturing quality assurance, retail customer service, or production/operations experience (in lieu of an Associate’s degree).
• Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
• Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
• Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Required to lift and push 50 pounds.
• Required to work day, swing or graveyard shifts as scheduled.
• Required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity are required.
• Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
• Required to be 18 years of age or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Compensation:

• Hiring Salary Range Posted: $19.47 - $26.30
• Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
