The Software Developer (System Softwares) of the National Science Foundation will be responsible for providing design, development, and maintenance of the software systems and infrastructures which will support agency mission of making scientific research as well as innovation more advanced. This position will concentrate on providing low-level software pieces, including system components, utilities and tools to optimize NSF computing environment's performance, reliability and security.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs, creates, tests, maintains, and deploys software applications.
  • Oversee software programming, testing software at various phases of completion, laying out software design, building models or diagrams to communicate the end goal and mapping out future software upgrades.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize system software to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of NSF's computing resources. Conduct performance analysis and tuning to maximize the scalability and throughput of critical systems.
  • Implement security mechanisms and protocols to protect NSF's computing infrastructure from vulnerabilities, exploits, and cyber threats. Develop and integrate security features into system software to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of SharePoint development experience; and minimum of 1 year working in an agile software development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience transitioning an agency or customer from SharePoint to Microsoft 365 or another software platform.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $74,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
