Director of Manufacturing Operations
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the scale-up, manufacturing, production, testing, supply chain, inventory management, fulfillment, shipping/receiving, and quality control of a new line of chemical sensors and instrumentation for water testing.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience in product development and new product manufacturing and launch
- Ability to scale product to large scale manufacturing
- Experience in training and running team of technicians to manufacture product
- Expertise in implementing quality systems, inventory controls, and customer service programs
- Meet output, quality, cost, productivity, and yield targets to meet financial forecast
- Develop & execute asset utilization and resource capacity strategies and methods including inventory management (Raw materials and supply chain) to meet or exceed targets
- Direct, manage, and optimize the performance of logistics, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality, and personnel
- Provide leadership and mentoring to team across all operations functions
- Provide key productivity metrics & industry benchmarks for continuous improvement of each manufacturing function
- Develop and provide feedback on sustainability plan and recycling program for manufacturing components.
- Be the primary champion for continuous process improvement
- Utilize manufacturing planning methods and techniques so that workflow is streamlined
- Take action to resolve manufacturing & quality problems when they occur and prevent reoccurrence
- Effectively utilize cost accounting systems and data for the purpose of cost reduction in the manufacturing process
- Champion design for manufacturability with new Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure the manufacturability of new products and their effective transition into manufacturing
- Represent all aspects of Manufacturing Operations with Finance and Sales and Marketing to determine build capacity, production staffing, and inventory levels.
- Work with EPA compliance issues to implement standards as needed
- Mentor and grow management talent
- Establish operational goals and objectives
- Participate in the strategic planning process
- Establish and maintain metrics for all processes and products
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in relevant Science or business degree, Manufacturing or Quality Systems with 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment of low volume.
- Experience in managing final assembly, test, sustaining engineering, planning, inventory control, procurement/supply chain management, and quality operations
- Financial understanding of the manufacturing operation as it relates to the P&L and balance sheet
- Sufficient technical knowledge to effectively interface with other staff departments and personnel, including new product engineering
- Excellent people and team building skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Sensor experience helpful
- Startup or small company experience
- Track record in bring new products to market and coordinating launch activities
- 10 years of experience in instrumentation manufacturing and all aspects of operations
- Experience with chemical sensors and electrical instruments
- BS or Graduate degree in Engineering or Quality Systems, Manufacturing
