Responsibilities
Development of SMS
- Develops and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local & state rules and regulations as they apply to the organization’s operations.
- Maintain SMS in compliance with State and Organizational requirements.
Measuring Performance
- Set organization-wide HSE goals.
- Set goals for HSE Department and HSE Professionals in the team.
- Assist in the achievement of meeting company goals and initiatives, profitability, and productivity requirements;
Enforcement
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and rules;
Ensure Management of Change for all changes in the organization;
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
- Ensure that all hazardous activities are analyzed and required preventive measures are implemented;
- Perform safety surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective and preventative measures, and follow up on task completion.
Equipment
- Ensure timely Safety equipment inspection whether internally or by contractors
Continuous Improvement
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices
- Develop and recommend improvements to all Quality Management systems
Competency Development
- Coordinate with HR on compliance with Training requirements
- Ensure workforce competencies are maintained relevant to their duties and roles in contingency management
- Develop, implement and maintain employee training programs as indicated by regulatory guidelines, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment
Communication
- Manage communication strategies
- Identify efficient required information sharing channels and implement same
- Interfaces effectively with peers and peer organizations – Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, Continuous Improvement, and quality – to achieve goals and objectives
Coordination
- Participate in Business, Contract, and Safety Meetings
Reporting & Recording
- Establish Reporting & Recording environment to gather incident data
- Ensure timely reporting of HSE parameters to relevant stakeholders;
Incident Management
- Analyze Incident data and Identify trends
- Recommend actions to avoid Incidents across the organization;
- Supports HSR with all workforce compensation cases as required;
Environment
- Ensure management of all hazardous waste and maintain records of the same
Assurance
- Ensures assurance goals are set and met
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Occupational regulations and standards;
- Ensures compliance with contractual requirements;
- Ensures compliance with environmental regulations;
Contingency Management
- Develop and implement efficient operations emergency response plans and ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Provide support to the execution of all global operation emergency response plans and manage all emergency situations
Desired Education Requirements and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety)
- 1 years' experience in the O&G industry
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards with regard to O&G
- Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
- Some travel required (25 to 30 percent)
- Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
