The Role in Brief:
Director, Tax Accounting
The candidate must have strong tax and technical accounting skills and will be responsible for administering tax policies for the firm and working with service providers to ensure compliance with the Internal Revenue Code and ASC 740.
This role will be based in Washington, D.C. or Richmond, VA.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage tax and compliance service providers in the preparation of tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, federal, state and local tax returns, and year-end tax reporting and quarterly compliance
- Administer tax and compliance policies related to business transactions and product offerings drawing conclusions on tax treatment
- Prepare and file multi-state sales, use, and property tax returns
- Provide and reconcile tax disclosures for financial statements
- Perform timely and effective research and analysis on complex transactions and structures ensuring that potential business risks are mitigated
- Coordinate with external transfer pricing tax advisors to help guide the transfer pricing aspects of business expansion, manage implementation, review related calculations, and prepare reporting
- Consult with tax advisors on technical tax and compliance matters and regularly review tax and compliance technical literature issued by accounting firms
- Interpret new tax regulations, maintain and update existing tax policies for new guidance or business practices
- Inform Finance, business leaders and executive management of emerging tax and compliance matters that have implications to the business
- Network with industry tax colleagues to ensure best practices are utilized
- Provide tax leadership and support for acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, restructurings and other strategic transactions, including working with finance leadership to ensure appropriate post-acquisition integration
- Plan and execute various other miscellaneous tax projects as necessary
Basic Qualifications:
- CPA required and/or major public accounting firm experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 5-7 years of work experience
- Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and ASC 740
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills
- Attention to detail
Ideal Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Taxation preferred
- Excellent technical interpretation and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment
- Desire to work in a team environment
- Discretion in dealing with confidential material

Compensation:
The anticipated starting salary (base) range for this role is $115,000 to $142,500 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role.
This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
