Earlham College is seeking a Machinist-Physics, Engineering, and Astronomy to join our team!

 

 

Summary: 

 

 

Earlham College invites applications for a Machinist in the Department of Physics, Engineering & Astronomy. This is a full-time, Administrative Faculty appointment with benefits.  Primary job duties are described below:

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Maintenance of College shop tools/equipment
  • Development of training materials and modules for safe usage of tools/equipment
  • Training students and faculty for safe use of tools/equipment
  • Oversight of student usage of tools/equipment
  • Aid in Project Development and fabrication
  • Supervise teams of student workers

Qualifications


 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Machining or Industrial Technology, or completion of a Trade school machine shop program.
  • Requires CAD and specifications reading, machining, measurement, data collection and safety abilities at a career skilled tradesman level.
  • Effective oral and written skills to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and students across multiple disciplines.
  • Be a positive example and resource to all Earlham Students
