Position Summary:
The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for providing accounting guidance for complex or unusual transactions such as revenue recognition, variable interest entities and consolidations, debt offerings, lease accounting, stock-based compensation, software capitalization, business combinations, legal transactions, and other non-routine complex business transactions. Responsibilities include critically evaluating the applicability of new accounting literature to Earnin, preparing technical accounting memos, maintaining effective internal controls and ensuring accounting activities are U.S. GAAP compliant. The role will report to the VP Controller as an individual contributor.
This is a remote position.
What You'll Do:
- Work cross-functionally on contemplated business transactions to ensure relevant accounting issues are identified, debated, resolved, and appropriately documented in high quality technical accounting memos
- Research new accounting guidance from the FASB, SEC and other regulatory bodies, including evaluating the impact of new guidance on the Company's financial statements; draft adoption memos on new accounting standards, as applicable
- Oversee accounting for stock based compensation program
- Subject matter expert of accounting and financial reporting rules as well as a working knowledge of financial statements disclosure and reporting requirements
- Assist in the coordination of the annual external financial statement audit
- Create, implement and own comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
- Implement and manage accounting procedures to comply with internal control requirements
- Lead the team in month-end and year-end closing in complex equity areas, non-standard transactions, and reporting
- Participate in other projects as required
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent required
- 6 years of relevant experience in accounting and advisory whether in public accounting or industry, including technical accounting experience with Big 4 or a national accounting firm
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proven experience to make well-reasoned and timely decisions
- Outstanding project management skills to establish and meet deadlines
- Exceptional communication skills, including an ability to listen to the needs of the business, research and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and simplified manner, and present findings and recommendations in both oral and written presentations
- Excellent understanding of US GAAP and SEC Reporting requirements
- NetSuite, Floqast, and Carta experience preferred
