What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker/Child Advocate position at East Carolina University?
The position is that of social service provider and coordination of child abuse assessments through the TEDI BEAR CAC of the Department of Pediatrics. The social worker will receive referrals, participate in the gathering of information, assist in the clinic evaluation of the child, and serve as continuing liaison with referral and community agencies. The social worker will also be the key organizer of the direct service provision, including scheduling, forensic interviewing, pre and post interviews with caregivers, and coordinating the multi-disciplinary team of investigative professionals. Utilizing database and maintaining information in Epic, NCAtrak, and OMS to ensure timely delivery of services. Follow-up with professionals and monitoring of the implementation of the recommendations arising from the clinic evaluations will be other purposes of the position through participation with MDT case review.
The educational functions of the program encompass several levels, in all of which the social worker will be a participant. These include: 1) at the preventive level, the education of providers and of the community in the identification of dysfunctional families; 2) education of students and residents in issues relevant to child abuse and 3) being a participant as part of the TEDI BEAR CAC as an educational resource for providers in eastern North Carolina who have the responsibility of evaluating children who may have been abused.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
At least two years of related experience. Position will require travel between satellite clinics.
License or Certification required by the Department
Upon hire, candidate will attend RADAR week-long forensic interview clinics. Candidate will need to drive between satellite locations.
