21st CCLC Afterschool Paraprofessional - Job Description

East End United Community Center

Hourly Rate: $15/per hour

East End United Community Center is seeking a qualified candidate for our afterschool program as a classroom paraprofessional at our center with students from Ben Franklin & Lafayette Elementary School. This program is composed of students in grades 1-5. Qualified candidates will be expected to carry out the teaching aide duties required for the East End United Community Center’s 21st CCLC Program as well as participate in experiences presented by various partner organizations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist teacher with creating a classroom culture that encourages group thinking, curiosity and discovery
• Aid with the preparation of program materials as it relates to daily lesson plans
• Works individually with students to ensure benefits and success of the assignment or task
• Collaborate with teacher execute lessons with a strong S.T.E.A.M emphasis
• Communicate with students, parents, staff and student’s daytime classroom teacher (when applicable)
• Help the teacher implement EEUCC’s daily expectations
• Assist teacher with keeping accurate records of attendance, activities, and lesson plans
• Commitment to classroom engagement in collaboration with the classroom teacher
• Other duties as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Awareness of classroom management and organization
• Experience working with students in a classroom setting preferred
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Must obtain PA Child Abuse, FBI, ,and Criminal Background Check Clearances

When:

• The 23-24 afterschool program runs from September through May 23, 2023, following the Uniontown Area School District Calendar (there is no program if there is no school or early dismissal - scheduled or emergency).
• Monday – Thursday, 3:00p – 5:30p.m.

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
