Position Title: Summer Nova/Super Nova Assistant Manager

Department: Student Services/Revenue

Summary:
Creates and maintains a Summer Playschool program for children consistent with the school year
Novas/Super Novas Playschool that follows the Novas/Super Novas philosophy and emphasizes
developmental readiness and the value of play while meeting the needs of all students as individuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement weekly themed lessons to enhance children’s academic and social
development, using play-based learning and hands on teaching methods.
  • Establish and maintain rules for behavior in the classroom setting. Instruct children in rules of
conduct when learning new tasks. Monitor children’s daily interactions and encourage active
participation in activities.
  • Demonstrate patience, compassion, and guidance appropriate for young children.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding their responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and weekly activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, enrolled children, and their parents/care
givers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assist Revenue Program Manager with information to review performance of classroom aides
Review/help write curriculum
Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
Have successfully completed a four-year degree. The ideal candidate has a degree in an area associated
with education, human development, and/or psychology.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certification is not required. Ideal candidates may have earned credits that meet state requirements for
a Head Teacher at a childcare facility and/or have a degree in Early Childhood Education.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret text. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
measurable goals and objectives. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
from parents, colleagues, and the community.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to be self-reflective.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to execute plans and programs based on program objectives and the needs/abilities of students
to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers,
parents, and community. Ability to create a positive working environment. Ability to be self-directed and
organize time, space, and materials. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral
communication. Ability to operate photocopying, fax machines, and computers. Ability to assume
responsibility for supervising students, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
