What are the responsibilities and job description for the ER Tech position at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center?
The ER Tech performs clerical duties related to the ED under the direction of the ED Director. Tech is also responsible for assisting in the basic care of patients under the direction of an RN. Tech acts as the unit’s receptionist, answers basic patient and visitor inquiries within their scope, places orders, completes transfer paperwork, and reconciles patient charts.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and exhibit proficiency in patient care and oral communication skills.
- Desirable characteristics include at least one year of experience as a nursing assistant, EMT, monitor tech, or unit secretary, preferably in the area of application.
- Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of an RN.
- Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
- BLS & SAMA required.
- EMT-Basic preferred
