Responsibilities
The Automation & Controls Project Manager provides leadership throughout all phases of a capital project and is responsible for maximizing the project value by executing the project within budget, on schedule, manages risk, and ensuring that the required operability is achieved. The Automation & Controls Project Manager will achieve their project objectives through effective planning and interaction with project team members and other support organizations.
Manages the project planning, resourcing, cost control (fit for purpose mindset), schedule, functionality to deliver the investment in accordance with the business objectives and customer requirements- Coordinate design approvals, development of process control philosophies, user requirements specification, and associated automation and instrumentation hardware specifications
- Regularly evaluates & mitigates issues that create project risk to meeting project objectives, schedule, or cost
- Closely tracks and communicates project progress to stakeholders
- Details scope of 3rd party skid units in terms of controls logic, interlocks, and/or interfaces to the control system and arranges technical support as required in construction and start up.
- Ensures involvement of appropriate personnel in the development and implementation of the control system from Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM).
- Interfaces with engineering and construction contractors
- Provides direction to Project Team on schedule and cost related issues. Enforces strict change management protocol to manage scope & schedule impacts.
- Works with Project Controls personnel to monitor, report, and document the progress of work and provide feedback on budget and schedule deviations.
- Works with the construction manager and systems turnover manager to develop a loop check process and manage it with the relevant contractors.
- Leads scheduling and setting up facilitation for LOPA & SIL reviews.

Completes all Project activities and necessary documentation to close out the project.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology- At least 10 years of Project Management experience on >$10M capital projects in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) process or appropriate comparable arrangement.
- Experience with architecture and commissioning of controls systems, including LOPAs, interlocks, etc.
- Thorough understanding of capital processes, from project definition through plant start-up with a focus on control systems
- Outstanding communication and coordination skills and demonstrated team leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced environment
- Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and dedication to implementing safe capital facilities
- Must be able to travel as needed based on project needs
- Open to relocation to the investment site as project demands ramp up
