• Normally works under the supervision of a Contracting Services Team Manager.
• Responsibilities:
• Manage assigned contractor work including: coordinate field activities, monitor progress and verify quality.
• Interface effectively with Eastman plant operating and maintenance personnel, nested contractors and short-term occasional use contractors.
• Function as a liaison between contractors and internal Eastman plant customers.
• Clearly communicate site specific safety and environmental expectations to contractor prior to initiation of field activities.
• Be an advocate for company policies such as the Safety, Responsible Care, Eastman Advantage, Energy and Quality Policies as well as the Eastman Basic Safety Expectations.
• Monitor safety aspects of assigned contractor work activities relating to Eastman permitting process, work techniques, tool usage, equipment condition and safety behaviors.
• Conduct field safety observations and audits as assigned and provide appropriate feedback.
• Participate in and promote site safety programs including ALL-IN-FOR-SAFETY and Safety HAWKS among contractors as well as Eastman personnel.
• Conduct field studies to gather data and track contractor “wrench time”.
• Conduct audits of contractor jobs and Performance Management process to review schedule compliance, estimated vs. actual hours, permitting delays, and schedule breakers.
• Review sample of contractor job estimates for planned work to verify reasonability.
• Periodically audit contractor supplied data for metrics to verify reasonability.
• Review contractor metrics to identify actionable trends and provide data for periodic management reviews
• Maintain good knowledge of contractor service capabilities and make recommendations for specific applications.
• Maintain positive working relationships with contractors to achieve quality, good service, and cost control for TXO.
• Understand elements of contractual agreement with assigned contractors.
• Conduct periodic audits of contractor timesheets and integrate into daily audit process.
• Review assigned contractor invoices verifying compliance with contract requirements and documenting any discrepancies.
• Work with contractor to develop, justify and implement improvement projects.
• Possess function specific expertise to facilitate field management and inspection of assigned contractor work.
• Participate in continuing education and training to increase knowledge of new technologies in assigned field of expertise

• You may from time to time be assigned to work with the Construction Management Group to act as a project inspector on engineered work orders and capital projects. Job duties for a project inspector can be made available for your review upon request.

• Qualifications:

  Candidates must have the following:

  • Strong preference for minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance or construction crafts in

  a petrochemical / refinery plant environment or internal candidate completion of TXO

  Mechanic or Operator Apprenticeship Program and minimum of 5 years of experience at TXO

  in maintenance and/or operations.

  • Valid state motor vehicle driver’s license.

  Desirable Skills/Qualities:

• Technical expertise from formal training and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Industrial maintenance or construction crafts
  • Coordinating execution work groups
  • Project or quality control
• Broad experience with maintenance or construction in a petrochemical / refinery facility
• Knowledge of job estimating and productivity evaluation methods for maintenance and construction crafts
• Technical knowledge in Excavation/Trenching or Working at Heights
• Understanding of critical path scheduling and experience utilizing MS Project, Primavera or similar scheduling tools
• Knowledge of process industry related safety and environmental policies and programs
• Demonstrated commitment to the Behavior Based Safety process
• Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Access, including the ability to create basic spreadsheets
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to complete a variety of seemingly unrelated tasks simultaneously
• Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with a broad range of people
• Ability to plan ahead and handle many details
• Ability to work with limited supervision
