Job Summary:
This role involves performing a variety of purchasing functions with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will use their judgment and discretion to contact vendors, research new sources for products, prepare and review requests for quotations, place orders, and coordinate order details including price revisions, discontinued items, back orders, and cancellations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact vendors and manage ongoing vendor relationships.
- Research and secure new purchasing sources for regular inventory items.
- Prepare and review quotations, and place orders ensuring optimal terms.
- Coordinate with vendors on all details of the transaction process.
- Manage updates and changes such as price adjustments, discontinued items, and order cancellations.
- Perform other related duties as necessary to support the purchasing department.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of full-time, responsible purchasing experience.
- Strong negotiation skills and excellent multitasking abilities.
- Proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve team objectives.
- Capacity to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of the specific types of goods purchased by the company is preferred.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or a college degree preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required; language skills will be tested.
