Position Overview:
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the adherence to customer and division quality requirements throughout the manufacturing process. Your responsibilities will encompass both in-process and final quality checks to guarantee that products meet the highest standards of excellence.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Review design drawings, operation sheets, process procedures, and other relevant documents to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Support the contract review process and interpret AS9100C, ISO9001:2008, ASQR-01, and other specifications.
- Conduct internal audits, with experience in AS9100 internal audits being a plus.
- Provide quality support to the Engineering group during New Product Introduction (NPI) and analysis of nonconforming parts.
- Interact with the Customer Service Department to resolve customer issues and respond to Customer Action Request (CAR) with effective process improvements.
- Engage directly with customers to resolve quality issues and support the Purchasing group with material procurement and supplier requirements.
- Generate and review quality metrics, identifying trends for process risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
- Measure and monitor supplier performance and conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action using tools such as 8D and 5 Why’s.
- Lead and support Quality Clinic activities, maintaining necessary quality records for regulatory compliance.
- Implement new inspection tools and technology, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and vision systems.
- Flow quality requirements to suppliers to prevent nonconforming product and work directly with suppliers to resolve issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or 5 years of inspection experience) plus 2 to 3 years as a Quality Engineer or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of statistical process control and lean principles.
- Familiarity with the company quality system and contractual quality requirements.
- Ability to validate inspections, interpret GD&T blueprints, and perform shop math (including trigonometry).
