Eaton’s Fuel & Motion Controls division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Instrumentation Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MS office.
Position Overview:
Eaton Corporation’s Hydraulic Systems Division of Eaton Aerospace, has an opening for an Instrumentation Technician. The Instrumentation Technician will act as the Engineering Laboratory Lead Technician at our Jackson, MS site.
The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
The candidate selected for the position will be part of an engineering team that certifies performance and integrity of aerospace products.
The incumbent’s primary function will be to prepare the test cells with instrumentation data acquisition for the units under test, designing electronic test circuits from customer specifications, ensure test circuit safeties are in place before operation, calibration of instrumentation for data collection, and complete per customer requirements with minimum supervision.

In this function you will:
- Design and fabricate measurement systems, including measurement instrumentation, signal conditioning, data acquisition systems, and any accompanying electronic circuits needed to execute duty cycles for aerospace hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, and reservoirs. Also fabricate safety test circuits for fail safe modes of these components. This must be done with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge and understanding how to build electronic test circuits from specification documents and collect performance measurements of hydraulic components with emphases on hydraulic pumps and motors.
- Assist engineering personnel with the development of acceptance and qualification test procedures where electronic and instrumentation requirements are not defined.
- Perform calibration of measurement instrumentation certifying its readiness for use during product validation testing.
- Select and approve the selection of laboratory equipment necessary to support testing activities. Ensure personal safety requirements such as emergency shutoffs and backup systems are in place during testing activities.
- Interface with FAA and other customer officials regarding laboratory test methods using clear written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Associates or two-year Technical degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a test lab environment and/or working with electrical/electronic or hydraulic equipment is required
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Jackson, MS will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with data acquisition systems, such as Lab View experience
- Prefer strong electrical instrumentation background
- Hydraulic component and system experience
- Ability to keep a detailed log of daily work is necessary as the nature of product testing can change direction based on test results.
Position Criteria:
- Work assignments may be varied and challenging and involve personal responsibility for facility equipment and product being tested.
- Strong organizational skills including written and oral communication are necessary.
