What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary/Paralegal position at Eckels Law?
Looking for a person who is willing to learn and to work as an independent contractor approximately 3 hours per day, 3 days per week to start. Hours/days are flexible. Once sufficiently trained, hours, days, and pay can increase.
Duties:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff
- Manage document management systems and maintain electronic and physical files
- Answer phone calls and take messages with proper phone etiquette
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings
- Assist with proofreading legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Perform data entry tasks to update case information
- Conduct clerical tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and faxing
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and other similar programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and proofreading
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
