Aircraft Technician

GENERAL SUMMARY

Builds, repairs, and services aircraft and engine systems. Assembly of new production aircraft. Performs assembly, maintenance, rework, repair, replacement, or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions. Maintains required records, manuals and inspection forms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required:

· Ability to communicate and resolve issues or problems

· Experience in the operation of typical aircraft systems

· Ability to work to meet time schedules established

· Assuring that shop equipment and tools used are in a serviceable working condition, and that required checks and calibrations have been accomplished on special tools and test equipment prior to use

· Ascertaining that necessary entries on forms and work orders for the assigned work function have been properly executed

· Maintaining the premises of the work area in a clean and orderly manner

· Maintaining high quality work in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations

· Observing the safety precautions relevant to any operation

· Using required technical data on all aircraft, engines, and appliances, for the work accomplished, including engineering models, and drawings, specifications, manufactures’ maintenance and overhaul manuals, service bulletins, related Federal Aviation Administration approved data

· Assuring the proper handling of all parts

· Maintaining the preservation of all units or parts during the work process, installation, and storage

· Be able to understand, read, and write English

Preferred:

· A&P License

· 3 years’ experience working in an aircraft maintenance environment as aircraft technician Experience in conducting annual or progressive inspection operations

· Experience in conducting pre-flight and post-flight inspections

· Familiar with the regulations in 14 CFR Parts 21 and 145

· Sheet metal fabrication and repairs

· Use of reamers and reaming of close tolerance holes

· Basic knowledge of multimeters

· Fastener installations (rivets, hi-loks, huck bolts, close tolerance hardware)

· Knowledge and experience in the ground operation of jet powered aircraft

· Aircraft movement and towing

· Fueling and defueling operations

· Machine shop tool experience (drill press, band saw, sander, lathe, brake, shear, etc.)

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, crawl, twist and kneel. There is repetitive motion to this position of all extremities. The employee must be able to move up to and in excess of 50 pounds safely with and without the assistance of machinery as required, climb in and out of aircraft as well as climbing up and down ladders and maintenance stands.

Employee will need to work near moving mechanical parts and machinery, in loud working conditions. Working Conditions will be both in climate controlled environments, as well as in the natural elements, as the nature of the position dictates that some of the activities associated with this position will be performed both inside and outside of a controlled structure.

TRAVEL: Minimal travel may be required.

SCHEDULE: M-F / 8 hour shift

SALARY RANGE: $25 - $35 / hour
