Eclipse is seeking an Electric Operations Manager to assist the CEO/GM in all aspects of providing reliable, safe electric service to members. Responsibilities include day-to-day administration of internal operations. Responsive to service requirements of Client Leadership / Executives by providing adequate and reliable electric, telephone and cable television services through efficient construction, operation, replacement, removal, and maintenance of utility plant in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

Position Overview:

The Line Superintendent performs supervisory duties to insure proper construction and maintenance of electric distribution, telephone, cable television plant, and associated equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities within the scope of the Journeyman Lineman job description
  • Enforces safe working practices and compliance with safety rules and guidelines established by the Client
  • Reports safety violations to Electric Operations Manager and may discipline for safety violations
  • Insures adherence to Rural Utility Service (RUS) specifications and National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code guidelines in all phases of construction and maintenance of distribution line, and telephone and cable television plant
  • Makes contact with consumers before doing work that may affect them
  • Lays out and assigns job tasks to journeymen and apprentice linemen
  • Appraises and reviews line crew performance and recommends changes in classification of linemen
  • Assists in determining what training is needed by each member of the line crew
  • Keeps field records and field materials inventory
  • Participates with the Electric Operations Manager in planning efficient utility operation
  • Insures timely completion of jobs with a maximum emphasis on safety
  • Knowledge of overhead and underground line construction and maintenance
  • Assists the Electric Operations Manager in short-range planning and staking of small plant additions, including the preparation of staking sheets
  • The Line Superintendent is authorized to take any action necessary to fulfill his responsibilities as long as such action does not deviate from established policies
  • Able to work outside their regularly scheduled hours, to be available to assist after hours and on weekends for emergency and/or pre-arranged work
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Electric Operation Manager
  • Develop and maintain a positive cooperative image

LEADERSHIP DUTIES

  • Promote enthusiasm and a cooperative spirit with coworkers, other departments, and members
  • Attend trainings and conferences to stay current on industry standards and best practices
  • Develop and improve maintenance procedures and schedules
  • Direct and assist field technicians when necessary
  • Train field techs and apprentices in all aspects of job-related duties outlined in this job description

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to push, pull, lift and position tools, equipment and structural material weighing in excess of 100 pounds, the ability to grip and hold lines and ropes with up to 75 pounds weight on them
  • Able to work with both arms overhead
  • Able to work with small components
  • Able to perform duties involving prolonged standing, sitting, crouching and/or stooping

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will be performed inside environmentally controlled offices and outside in the field in potentially inclement weather. Work will include climbing poles. Must be able to work flexible hours including scheduled on-call, weekends, holidays, before and after designated shift hours. Must be willing to travel within our rural service area. Modes of travel may include small planes, ATV's, boats, helicopters, and snow machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have and maintain (and/or obtain) a valid Alaska Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
  • Must obtain or be able to obtain Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within thirty (30) days from the date of hire
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisor, co-workers, contractors, and members: verbally and in writing
  • Must possess and maintain a current State of Alaska, Electrical Certificate of Fitness
  • Ability to read, maintain and create cable plant and facilities documentation, including circuit drawings, maps and cable records
