We are looking for a degreed Safety Engineer to work in our Rosenberg facility to work under our offsite Safety Leader. This role will be responsible for conducting tests and inspections for manufacturing work areas & conditions, machinery, & equipment for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. Must be willing to receive training and operate independently.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Work with Manufacturing teams to undertake testing and inspections of workstations, machinery, inspection labs, to ensure all workstations machinery, & equipment is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
Ensures the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing/devices, and first aid supplies. Maintains records on safety inspections and inventory of safety & fire equipment and devices.
Undertake companywide audits of equipment and Machinery to validate compliance with specifically Machine Guarding and Lockout tagout procedures.
To be responsible for the site storage and use of all hazardous materials and ensure that all record keeping is complete and available for inspection.
Maintain and audit the SDS database.
Assist in the execution of the company’s Safety program, lead audit teams, develop training and assist in the development of procedures.
Follows procedures to monitor health and safety at designated locations such as ergonomics, air quality, and waste disposal.
Use knowledge of OSHA, and federal regulations to identify problems and find solutions.
Develops and disseminates health and safety manuals and documentation.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering & 4 – 6 years of experience, preferably in industrial setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA Regulations
- Proven track record of working through complex situations to identify root cause and develop sustainable solutions.
- Lean Manufacturing, and 6S
- Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
- CPR Trained and certified.
This position may require the successful candidate to work outside of regular business hours based on company needs, candidates must be able to perform physical requirements of job including but not limited to sitting and/or standing through duration of shift, lifting up to 50 lbs., and climbing of ladders.
