HEALTH, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL, SUSTAINABILITIES (HSES) RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all company rules, policies, and procedures.
Inspects and monitors environmental equipment, gas leaks and housekeeping within the unit.
Attend required safety meetings to address safety and environmental concerns and incidents as well as current safety performance in unit.
Participate by bringing forth current safety issues.
Invokes Stop Work policy any time operational conditions become unsafe or uncertain.
Completes computer-based training to comply with HSE requirements and policies.
Participates on Safety, Rescue, and other committees / teams as required.
Notifies supervisor of all unsafe conditions / actions or procedure discrepancies.
Focus on the health and wellbeing of ourselves and our fellow coworkers.
Reviews all management of changes, accident / incident reports, shift log and operating instructions prior to the start of shift.
Completes work permits as required.
Performs equipment inspection for leaks, breakage, and malfunctions within the unit.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect material samples of products and raw materials for laboratory analysis.
Read and record various temperature, pressure, flow, level, and analyzer indications.
Perform readings and compile operating records. Monitor condition of unit and troubleshoot when parameters are outside normal operating ranges.
Maintain log of gauge readings and shift production using either paper or electronic logs.
Inspect fire extinguishers, respiratory protection equipment, safety showers, etc.
Perform chemical tests on product samples to ensure conformance with specifications, using standard test equipment, materials, and procedures.
Inspect equipment in unit to determine location and nature of malfunction, such as leaks, breaks, and faulty components.
Create electronic work notification (SAP) for maintenance repairs.
Prepare equipment for maintenance by following Lock out / Tag out (LOTO) procedures.
Follow all Life Critical procedures and ensure paperwork is completed correctly.
Turn valves or move controls to maintain various process and utility systems at specified parameters.
Connect with the loading rack to line up for raw material and product storage. Interface with logistics personnel to support shipping and loading of materials.
Start an acid and water pump as needed.
Report concerns or any issues to supervisor in a timely manner
Ensure operator rounds are completed as required and documented in logs.
Read, review and edit standard and emergency operating procedures as demanded and ensure good operating practices are accurate and followed.
Review all management of changes, accident / incident reports, shift log and operating instructions prior to the start of shift.
Ensure appropriate troubleshooting effort is made and results / status are communicated to fellow employees and supervisors.
Follow interlock / alarm bypass procedure and ensure interlock bypasses are removed when no longer needed.
Complete the necessary training and qualifications in the unit on timetable specified by supervisor.
Be accountable for the health and safety of not only yourself, but the unit operators and all fellow plant personnel.
Patrol unit to verify safe and efficient operating conditions.
Perform turnaround / shutdown duties as requested by area supervisors.
Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in specific plant location or per job task specification.
Perform autonomous maintenance jobs per the Labor Contract.
Responsible for pulling, blowing, installing furnace guns. (this includes locking out for repairs).
Covers vacations, STDs, and absences for other operators as required by Supervision.
Attend quarterly and all other mandatory safety meetings.
Follow the Incident reporting process.
Work with contractors and engineers in the unit; be involved in the projects, process hazards analysis, Audits, (etc.) as needed.
Housekeeping Ensure the unit is clean and well maintained to ensure a safe and efficient work area.
Complete Computer based training (CBT) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) training on time.
Work with Manager and Unit Engineers to improve unit operations (efficiency, safety, costs, throughput).
Follow a code of conduct and work with all employees and contractors professionally and respectfully at all times.
Perform any other duties / projects as assigned by supervision.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Capable of working on a rotating shift schedule continually either 8 or 12 hours shifts depending on need and peer personnel availability, including day, swing and graveyard shifts.
Utilize training for evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.
Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
Able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations or with situations in which speed and sustained attention are required aspects of the job.
Work around others, but independently. Able to work without direct supervision after hours.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs for short durations.
Able to climb ladders, stairwells, scaffolds and wear fall protection equipment as needed per tasks.
Must be able to be physically capable of wearing respiratory protective equipment as needed per tasks.
Will utilize math including practical application of fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportion.
Work as a team member.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma, or GED AND
Process Technology Degree, or
Military Experience and in good standing, or
4 yr. degree from a certified institution or
Two years of Chemical Manufacturing Experience (definedas process of transforming raw materials into finished product - operator), orthree years of Industrial Experience (Insulation, scaffolding, pipe fitting,millwright, welding)
Critical Skills / Competencies :
Basic computer skills, effective communicationskills, and willing to consider serving on the Emergency Response Team for aminimum of the first 5 years
