Sets up machines as specified by work order or blueprints. Assists in the maintenance of tooling to ensure readiness prior to set-up.

Ensures safety devices are installed and tested. Typically has 3-5 years of experience and works under broad supervision.

Assigns the work and instructs the operator in the methods and procedures required for continuing and quality-oriented operation.

Relieves the operator as required.

• Maintains the equipment in daily operating conditions; adds oil and grease to maintain levels required, tighten basic equipment.
• Assists the supervisor in developing and preparing standard set-up procedures and settings for the operation.
• Sets up the injection molding machine and fusion bonding machine, plus additional supportive equipment for the operation, and makes critical adjustments for a quality molding, bonding, and assembly operation.
• Changes over molds and extruders in injection molding machines and changes over material hoppers.
• Maintains surveillance of machine conditions and makes adjustments to assure a quality operation. Sets up and operates other equipment in the area for preparing or finishing injection molded products and bonded parts.
• Removes finished goods from injection molding area and places into inventory using material hauling equipment.
• Completes statistical process control charts and related quality documentation.
• Completes visual inspection of parts for quality requirements according to work instructions.
• Performs data entry.
• Responsible for tracking parts produced, scrap, and regrind.
• Notifies the supervisor of any faulty equipment or mechanical conditions, keeps the work area clean and orderly; and maintains equipment and tools in good working order.
