About ECU Health Chowan Hospital
ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides programs and services to 110,000 people in 6 counties. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Position Summary
Provides daily transportation of patients to and from the behavioral health program. Assists patients entering and exiting the van as well as providing patient care assistance within the program. Maintains required records/logs defined below; schedules and assists with clerical duties.
Responsibilities
1. Transports Behavioral Health patients to and from the hospital while assisting them on and off the van and to the Group Room.
Informs the Patient Care Manager when assistance will be needed in transportation of patients.
2. Maintains van maintenance log, patient information log, and assists with development of patient transportation schedule for the following week.
Coordinates maintenance, cleaning and fueling of hospital vehicles used to transport patients.
3. Performs patient care duties with attention to detail, accuracy, patient safety, and patient comfort while maintaining patient dignity.
Participates in the orientation of patients to the unit rules and regulations and introduces him/her to other community members.
Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.
4. Performs secretarial and clerical duties including patient registration, charges and scanning documentation into the patient medical record.
5. Participates in public relations/marketing activities as directed by the Patient Care Manager.
6. Participates in hospital based wellness programs, employee forums, and required education/training opportunities.
7. Reports any patient care/safety concerns immediately to the Therapist and Patient Care Manager as discovered.
9. Assumes responsibility for own competency and professional development.
8. Adheres to the confidentiality standards of ECU Health and the Structured Outpatient Program.
Minimum Requirements
High School or equivalent required - or higher.
Less than 1 year training is required.
Current American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR AED required
Associates Degree in a human service related field or NA I or NA II preferred
