Position Summary

• Assist in providing direct quality patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Participates in the assessment of patients.
• Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating/revising the plan of care.
• Attends educational programs and staff orientation which promote and professional development.
• Develops leadership role within the LPN scope of practice. Participates in Service Excellence Program.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing direct quality patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assist in the coordination of intradepartmental and interdepartmental patient care activities and seeks to promote harmonious professional relations: utilizes nursing education to provide direct patient care and improve patient's physiological and emotional well-being.
• Collaborates with members of the health care team; monitors and communicates changes in the patient's condition; may document care in patient's medical record, procedures and nursing standards; and acts as a role model for students and other employees.
• Assists in completing the nursing admission record consistent with policies and interviews patient/significant others to complete health history.
• Documents care and patient's response to care within the framework of the standards of Nursing Service.
• Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating and revising the plan of care: Participates in implementing the plan of are through effective use of procedural and organizational skills.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• LPN Diploma
• Active NC LPN License or compact state
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Exposure and practice of medication administration from educational preparation and student clinical practice.
