Wellness Coach

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Fitness Director and consistent with the mission of the Ed Thomas YMCA of McCook, the wellness coach will assist members in obtaining their individual wellness goals by educating them about services and instructing members in proper strength training principles and wellness evaluation protocols. Always provide knowledge and concern for the members’ well-being.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Improves the health and well-being of the community the YMCA serves.
• Works to ensure member safety and enjoyment.
• Demonstrates correct stances, posture, alignment and techniques during wellness consultation and personal training sessions. Shows safe, effective ranges of motion and exercise control. Demonstrates strength and endurance maintaining role-model form throughout.
• Monitor the wellness center as fitness members use the equipment to ensure their general safety and equipment function, enforces all member codes of conduct, rules and policies including, but not limited to, age restrictions, dress code, language and proper use of YMCA equipment and facilities.
• Keeps abreast of changes and trends in the fitness industry through continuing education.
• Ensures the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.
• Identifies facility, equipment malfunctions, or other problems and troubleshoot as capable. Promptly inform the Senior Director of all facility, equipment, or other issues.
• Attends departmental meetings and training as scheduled.
• Serves as a role model for a healthy lifestyle and superior customer service.
• Represents the YMCA positively and maintains a good and friendly relationship with the YMCA members and staff, addressing each by name.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience designing and implementing exercise programs.
• Preferred nationally recognized certification in Personal Training, CPR and AED.
• Completion of all new employee trainings within the established timeline

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $10.50/hour.
