Mission
EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). Our mission as the RESC in western Connecticut to is to promote the success of area school districts and their communities. EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives. In addition, EdAdvance operates five specialized school programs for students who are requiring educational placement outside of their district.

Citizenship/Naturalization review teacher
Reports to: Adult Education Director
Part Time, Academic Calendar One night per week (Thursday), 2 houir class, 30 minutes of paid planning for each class 6:00-8:00 PM
Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $31.19/hr

Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to prepare candidates to take the U.S. Citizenship test and Naturalization process

Major Responsibilities:
Prepare students to:

• Understand the requirements of the naturalization process
• Be able to read and write in English
• Be able to respond verbally to naturalization interview questions
• Be able to respond correctly to answers on the civics and U.S. History exam

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with the naturalization process
• Knowledge of United States history and government
• Knowledge of English grammar
• Familiarity with the USCIS website and resources
• Knowledge of the scoring guidelines for the U.S. Naturalization test
• Ability to develop engaging lessons to help students master the necessary content

• Must be able to create a positive and supportive learning enrvironment
• Able to utilize multiple instructional strategies and materials
• #107 CSDE endorsement or eligible to apply (minimum of a Bachelor's degree and one college level special education class)
