What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at EdAdvance?
EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives.

Focused on local and regional priorities, we are reinvesting the expertise, energy, and resources of the agency to amplify the benefit of our constituents.
EdAdvance BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) is in need of lifguards for the EdAdvance BASES Summer Program. The swimming pool is located at Newtown High School pool. The lifeguards will monitor pool activites and ensure safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowedge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procesures. To help prevent incidents and ensure safety, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines and remain alert throughout entire shift. Additional job duties a lifeguard preforms including preparing the pool and cleaning up after use, and incident reports. Lifeguards will need to be present at the pool every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:30 - 6:15.

Major Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of students in the facility
- Act immeadiatly and appropriatly to secure safety of students in the event of emergency
- Prevent injuries and always ensure the saftey of students
- Warn swimmers of improper activites or danger and enforce pool regulations and water saftey policies
- Administer first aid to victims in an emergny until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Always present professional appearance and attitude, and maintain a high standard of customer service
- Ability to perform maneuvers to ensure the care, welfare, and safety for all students and staff
- other duties as may be assigned
- Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent
- Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
- Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent
- Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals particpating in aquatic activies to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety
- Regular and consistant attendance is considered as essential function of this position
